  • Dear Mr. Abrams,

I am a Gainesville voter trying to make a thoughtful and informed decision in the November election. I have been reading your positions on health care, affordability, environmental protection, immigration and due process, privacy, and the influence of corporate interests in Florida government.

There are three important areas where I have not been able to determine your position clearly, and I would be grateful if you would tell me where you stand.

    1. Reproductive freedom: Do you believe decisions about abortion should remain with a woman and her medical provider? Would you support or oppose Florida’s current six-week abortion restriction, and what abortion policy would you favor as governor?

    2. LGBTQ+ rights: What protections do you support for LGBTQ+ Floridians, particularly regarding marriage equality, employment, housing, health care, education, and protection from discrimination?

    3. Gun safety: What gun-safety measures, if any, would you support as governor—for example, universal background checks, Florida’s red-flag law, waiting periods, or restrictions on assault-style weapons?

I am especially interested in knowing not simply your general philosophy, but what policies you would actually support or oppose as Governor of Florida.

Thank you for taking the time to respond and for helping me make a decision.

    Sincerely

    Bahira Sugarman
